How Many Fingers?

We had a bit of a scare tonight. Our son rolled off the sofa and landed head first on a very hard albeit carpeted concrete floor. We relayed his reports of haloed vision and nausea to our pediatrician, who directed us to take him to the hospital.

Diagnosis: concussion.

A CAT scan confirmed that everything was normal, and we were on our way home in relatively short order; just two-and-a-half hours.

Not at all what any of us had planned for the evening. Maybe next time he'll think twice before trying to balance himself atop a tumultuous tower of throw pillows, cushions and blankets precariously perched on the veritable cliffs edge of the sofa seat... without first donning the proper safety gear. ;)

The trip to the hospital seemed to make an impression. Fortunately the fall didn't. The doctor confirmed that his head was still round.

A far better experience than the last time any of us had to go to the hospital.
